Hi everyone, today we said goodbye to our company Carl,Olga and "Mom. Guessd they made it back to NC just fine. The week went fast, much was accomplished, many moments shared together over meals and around the table. "Mom" was quite the lady, out watering the garden, sweeping cob webs, feeding the pigs, just about anything that made her feel like she was helping. Olga painted most of my little storage shed and refinished the new deck with "Mom's " help. Carl got the mower going and did quite a bit of mowing and raking for Curt . We picked wild grapes. took them to cousin Donna, who promptly made jelly and brought some for us to try. Us ladies went to a B & B for afternoon tea on Thursday, and we all loaded up and went to Bismarck for the day on Friday. There was a lot of work done and a lot of fun by all. Now onto Casper on Thursday to see my sister. I am anxious to go. Bonnie F.

Hi everyone, Thought I'd write a quick note and maybe it would inspire some of you to add one too! I know Carl, Olga, and her mom are in ND visiting at present so hope they are enjoying some great weather and fun times.
I was in Casper with my Mom last week, had a great time. We tried a new pizza place in the downtown area, I think every town is getting to where they are trying to redo old buildings and make them real trendy and cool, it was good but not a place I can see my mom hanging out at-kind of a young, hipster type crowd place(and yes, they do have some of those in Casper) Jill, Des, and I will all be going to Casper again on the Labor Day weekend as Val, Kevin, and Bonnie will be traveling to WY to see my mom, not much to do up there but look forward to visiting and catching up! Hope you all have special plans for the holiday too!
Hope to hear some news from around the country!

Exciting news update from the Bergen Swedish Elim Lutheran Church! A new outhouse has arrived on site! After many hours of sweat and toil, the new structure arrived on site the evening of Sunday, August 7th. Kevin, the master carpenter, built the structure in front of the Heisler's garage so it was mostly complete before the big move! Shelley arrived in ND on August 3rd and she and I were put to work to help with siding and building the "toilet box". Kevin is a very precise builder and everything must be square, level, etc.. so I dare say that there is no finer built outhouse! Sunday evening Kevin's brother Mike came with his bobcat and picked up the outhouse with the pallet forks and loaded the outhouse and his Bobcat onto the trailer. Good thing it was not any wider or it would not have fit on the trailer. Our caravan took the back roads to Bergen with the new outhouse! Of course the old one had to be removed as we placed the new one in the same area. I had wanted to keep the old outhouse & take it home to make a cute garden shed, but Kevin said "NO", so I quickly got ahold of my Bergen friend Sandee Michalenko to see if she wanted the old outhouse. She decided to take it, so this photo shows the old outhouse being moved to it's temporary home by Grandma Haga's little red house. Things moved pretty quickly to get the new outhouse up and functional by the end of the evening! Shelley & I spent some time on Wednesday giving the building a second coat of paint and we need to finish the roof, install a window and definitely want to paint the inside & do some decorating. Mom is pretty adamant that we put the pictures of Elvis & Steve McQueen back on the walls, but we will see! Many thanks to Kevin for taking time out of his busy summer schedule to help me and Shelley with this project! We worked hard but feel good about getting it accomplished! I will post a photo of the new outhouse soon!

Enjoyed the Medora slide show-thanks for sharing Val! Both you and your mom look great!
Hope you have a great time while Shelley is there, any special trips planned while the big city girl is there? Keep us informed, love to hear about everyone's adventures. The canoe trip Barb and Pete took sounds great, I doubt if Ron will ever get on a boat that I have an oar in hand again(bad experience in Hawaii, actually was quite funny but he was NOT amused)
How is Carl feeling, haven't heard if his tests came out ok or what.?
I will be going to Casper on the 14th for a week to hang out with my mom while John, Candy, and the kids go on vacation, I'm looking forward to it-she always enjoys when any of us girls get up there. Don't know if she'll want to take any "day trips" most of the time she just likes to remain pretty close to home. The doctor started her on Aricept(for the memory, said she doesn't have Alzheimers or dementia, but this might help her not lose any more of her short term memory) Hard to know if its helping but will be easier to tell when I spend time with her.
Keep enjoying the summer:)

Happy 59th Anniversary Mom & Dad!! You guys are the best parents ever!! Hope you celebrated by going out to eat and taking it easy today! What do you remember about your wedding day?

Way to go Val & Bonnie on your trip to Medora! Loved the pics - thanks so much for posting Val. Brought back wonderful memories for me of my two summer working there - I had so much fun! And I had the ultimate job -- counting money all day from all the shops. Can't believe that was 35 yrs ago! Know Shelley is in ND now and know you'll have fun being together.

All is well here. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon last Friday when we went canoeing on a chain of four lakes near downtown Mpls. The weather was perfect -- classic "best of summer" in Minnesota!

Noticed the ND State Fair was last week, which reminded me of the Hultman visit 2 years ago, which was such fun! We've had so many wonderful times together throughout the years!

Hope everyone is doing great! Love to all!, Barb & Pete

Mom & I enjoyed a relaxing, but event packed trip to Medora this past weekend. We left Friday morning & stopped in Bismarck for a nice lunch & shopping at Cracker Barrel (mom's favorite restaurant). After lunch we were on our way again, stopping for a short visit at the abbey in Richardton. We arrived in Medora mid-afternoon & checked into our motel, did a little shopping at some of the shops, had dinner and then headed to the Medora Musical performance. The show was fantastic & the weather was perfect! Saturday we drove through the TR National Park & enjoyed seeing Bison, wild horses and the prairie dogs. Scenery was lovely as they have had some rains in the Badlands so it was green. After our visit to the park we made it back to Medora in time to have tea with Mrs. Roosevelt and TR! We visited the Cowboy Hall of Fame, where we were able to view a display about Alvin Nelson, the 1957 National Saddle Bronc Champ, who was a regular customer at Feist Charolais & I remember he & his wife Kaye coming to our farm to buy cattle. Such nice people. Alvin passed away a few years ago. Took mom to see Bully Pulpit, the beautiful golf course a few miles out of Medora - was a hot afternoon, so we enjoyed an adult beverage there. We had a very full day! We left Medora enroute for Mandan. We stopped in Taylor, ND as they were having their annual Horse Fest celebration. We were too late to see the activities, but did see one horse in town! The festival includes demonstrations using many horse drawn implements. On our way again, finally arriving in Mandan about 9:30 p.m. Sunday we slept in after our big day on Saturday! We visited the ND Heritage Center, which has undergone a large expansion, what an impressive place! We had lunch at Olive Garden and then a quick run to Sam's Club before our journey back to Velva. Was a nice get-away for mom! I have posted some photos from our visit under the album "Medora -July 2016". Enjoy!

Forgot to mention that after having a huge surplus of kittens (10 ) to be exact, I have lowered the herd to only 1 kitten and 1 adult cat that I would like to give away. BisMan and Erica's photo posters have really helped me. It can be done, it just takes time and effort! Bonnie F
